Certified Substance Abuse Counselors are responsible for:

  • Completes comprehensive assessment of clients substance abuse history and treatment requirements, and prepares individualized developmentally appropriate treatment plan.
  • Provides individual and group counseling, and educational programs in accordance with treatment plan.
  • Documents treatment and discharge plans, and clients progress and responses to treatments; and maintains related records and charts.
  • Performs case management and contributes to client care monitoring.
  • Caseload typically includes some complex cases requiring more intensive services.

Job Requirements:

  • Current certification or qualification as an alcohol, drug, or substance abuse counselor in New Jersey.
    (CADC, LCADC, LPC)
  • Associates or Bachelor s degree in psychology, social work, mental health counseling, or substance abuse counseling preferred
  • Ability to perform assessment, treatment planning, and counseling, and provide intensive services for some complex cases, with minimal supervision and direction, at a level normally acquired through two years prior experience in the substance abuse field

Physical Requirements:

  1. Ability to walk and move about the facilities for up to two hours at a time, to monitor and interact with clients
  2. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  3. Ability to use a keyboard and video display terminal to receive, retrieve, and/or audit information and data
  4. Ability to record, proofread and check documents and files for accuracy
  5. Ability to respond to telephones, and to hear and detect alarms and unusual noises

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
